We are an enthusiastic and energetic department who want you to enjoy studying English whilst whilst achieving your personal goals. In support of the school's mission statement, we are a department for the the 21st century at the heart of the community. In our study of English we will explore a range of themes and topics that are current and appropriate to you. All English lessons are conducted in the upstairs corridor of M block near both the Learning Resource Centre and the Wellbeing Office. Therefore, ICT is conveniently available to aid with our studies. We are constantly ensuring that there are a wide range of opportunities available that enable you to learn more about our subject whilst also having fun. During the year students of all ages have a number of opportunities to get involved in extra curricular activities such as; World Book Day (you may find your English teacher has been replaced with Alice in Wonderland or Mary Poppins when you arrive to lesson!) BBC School Report, theatre trips, book clubs and many more!
World Book Day will be taking place on Thursday 2nd March and the English department are inviting staff and Year 7 to take part in a fancy dress competition where you dress up as your favorite book character! Prizes for the best costumes will be given out on the day.
