World Book Day
The School celebrated World Book Day on Tuesday 8 March with both staff and Year 7 pupils arriving into school as their favourite literary characters!
Costumes were particularly impressive and original this year with the winners representing Alice in Wonderland, Dennis the Menace and Gangsta Granny from the popular David Walliams book. As usual, there were plenty of Harry Potter’s and Katniss Everdeen’s from the popular book series ‘The Hunger Games’. Even staff got in on the fun with various members of the English department dressing up as more traditional characters such as Lady Macbeth and Wendy from Peter Pan – though there was some confusion over Mrs Savagar’s blood-soaked hands and Mrs Pearson’s night gown and slippers! If you were lucky, you may have even found a Gandalf in the IT department!
The day was organised by the English department in order to promote literacy and to encourage pupils to take an active interest in reading. The department thanks all those who got involved and made the day such a success!
