Llantwit Major School Ysgol Llanilltud Fawr

Llangrannog

Recently from the 9th - 11th of March ten year 12 pupils  attended a transition event accompanying a group of Primary Schools year 6’s to Llangrannog. The schools involved were all connecting schools that are going to be transitioning to Llantwit Major Comprehensive in September. The schools involved were Ysgol Y Ddraig, St Illtyd, St Athan, Rhws and Wick and Marcross Primary Schools.

We arrived on Wednesday afternoon after the bus journey down to Llangrannog. After arriving and going for food, the activities began immediately. Llangrannog had many activities to offer, the pupils were looking forward to taking part in all the activities provided. The teachers from the Primary schools had mixed their pupils in with other pupils from different schools in order for them all to mix as they will be attending Llantwit Major Comprehensive school together, this was a great opportunity for the pupils to engage with one another.

Each day was packed full of activities. The activities included, dry skiing, tobogganing, go karting, quad biking, archery, horse riding, trampolining, swimming, indoor team building, sports, wall climbing, high ropes and many more. These were all great opportunities for all the pupils to take part in and to mix with the pupils from other schools. Also the year 12 pupils got to take part and go to the activities with them, this way the year 6 pupils were able to speak to us if they had any worries or anything they wanted to talk about.

As Year 12 pupils we took our time to encourage the pupils to join in with all the activities and to engage with one another. We also had the chance to arrange a disco for the pupils which was a great night. The night included the year 12 girls having a dance off with all the year 6 pupils (We lost badly against them), this was a great activity where the pupils were able to bond with one another.

The trip was a great opportunity for both the prefects and the year 6 pupils. We hope that they all enjoyed the three days as much as we did. Also we look forward to seeing all the year 6 pupils in September and welcoming them to Llantwit Major Comprehensive School.
